Through iStockphoto, I have been drafted as a blogger over on the magnificent site, zoom-in. They asked me to blog about the life of a photographer, and I agreed. This is extremely exciting, and I hope everyone will join me on this journey.
Check out my intro-post and the rest of zoom-in.
Come by Cafe Vega on November 9th between 7pm - 9pm and meet me (yay!) and the other featured photographers. It's a perfect opportunity to shop for the holidays as well (hint hint) and a portion of all sales will go to the NW Harvest charity.
So, drop by and say hello, buy my photo for a special friend and make everyone happy. Oh, and my photo is the one I am holding up here. It's a unique re-process of a photo I took in Seattle's International District back in 2005.

"If you want to build a microstock portfolio, you don’t have to shoot people. Architecture is great for real estate material, and tranquil landscapes or personal accessory still life shots are useful for spas and well-being brochures. Just to mention a couple..."

will take a look at the most common types of lighting and what kind of
pictures they are good for..."

"The rule of thirds, the golden mean and all the classic pieces of advice for composing a good photograph still applies, when you’re shooting stock. However, there are a few compositional tips that apply specifically to the stock genre..."
I decided to spread the word about my photography via a new channel today: Video! I put together this little slideshow of portraits (since that is what I enjoy shooting the most), and hope to use it to find more models and even potential clients. The video is posted here as well as on YouTube. The music is something I made a while ago, just fiddling around. Enjoy.
"Through the years I have noticed two general sub-genres of stock photography that both have a huge market. I call these ”The Clean Image” and ”The Dramatic Image” and in the following, I will take a closer look at these two types of photographs, when and how they work..."
"A good stock image is one that many designers will buy to use in their projects. It has versatility and longevity, and it features a subject that supports many different messages. That’s the simplest way to put it, but making photos that fall into this category is not simple at all..."
